About Connie
I started out rowing about 4 years ago just after transitioning into a new school, at first I didn’t feel I would carry on with the sport having no clue what to do and being the youngest there, I still am the youngest but with support and great coaching I have my own crew and we are winning the races. I have first hand experience on how to deal with the exhaustion and stress - rowing can take a toll on the body so it’s important you look after your own well-being as well as managing stress. I live on a farm, row and am still in full time education, a lot of things to juggle all at once but through fails I have learnt lessons and have reached the place I am proud to be in today. I would love to help others through tough times with my advice and be able to coach them for improvements and to reach, surpass their goals in rowing!

My teaching method would at first be to learn a bit about my student, I will then be able to evaluate the situations and form a suitable and fitting structure of the lessons. For example in one lesson we will discuss what the student thinks they need help on, improvements on, I will offer advice, techniques I have used myself as well as other views that would seem more suitable for the student, we may choose to discuss certain topics to focus on some main points or have a more openly planned lesson. I would also discuss with the student about their well-being for example, time management, stress management, fitness, and making sure the body is properly stretched or warmed up to prevent possible injury, I can also offer experience on recovery from an injury. I can help tutor students at many different levels especially if you are just starting out. I will always be open to hearing what the student thinks and what they believe is a problem/solution and incorporate that into my own tutoring. For my tutoring to be successful it would require clear communication between the tutor and student on both sides, it should also be a safe environment where the student can openly state their worries about the sport without feeling self-conscious, I believe every failure should be a lesson to learn from so through each fail the student should learn a valid lesson overall - I know I have.
