About Tom
I'm 19 years old and I'm about to start my 2nd year at New College Oxford. I previously went to Winchester College with a Music Exhibition where I studied Maths, Physics, and Music.
Regarding my musical experience, I started the piano at age 3 and have completed most ABRSM grades including grades 7 and 8 with distinction. I also have a Trinity ATCL piano diploma (2021) and I performed in two jazz ensembles at school, playing the piano. I also have completed ABRSM grade 8 theory with distinction (2020) and ABRSM grade 8 singing with distinction (2020). While studying at Oxford, I both played solo recitals and accompanied other students, and I have played jazz piano in public venues including the Mad Hatter.
I was a Chorister at Winchester College from 2010-2015 and I was the reserve finalist for BBC's Young Chorister of the Year in 2015. I sang in the Winchester Chapel Choir as a bass from 2019-2021 as well as in a close harmony group called Cantores Episcopi. I now sing with as a choral scholar for New College, Oxford

Whether it's music examinations or just playing for fun, my enthusiastic yet relaxed teaching style is aimed to make your piano progress as enjoyable as possible!
From very beginners to grade 8 level, I want the student to choose their own pieces/exercises, and I will give feedback and guidance which I believe will improve their technical skill, music reading, and musicality.
I will also give suggestions of what you things you'd find enjoyable to practise. I can also teach music theory, jazz piano, singing, and violin.
