About TerriLymn
I taught math for about 10 years and I really loved going to school everyday and 'playing' math! My favorite subject is Algebra. and I make it fun. All of my students enjoyed my class, even those who thought they hated math before being in my class. I am a very patient teacher/tutor and I take all the time you need to understand the lesson.
As an elementary/middle school student, I struggled in math. I had to teach myself little tips and tricks to get the correct answers. When I started high school, I took Algebra 1A and was in a class with an exceptional math teacher. She quickly learned where my struggles were, and filled in the 'missing' information I needed to be successful in Algebra. I began to understand math, and it quickly became my favorite subject!
I strive to be as helpful to you as that special teacher was to me. Because I had struggles in math, I understand how frustrating it can be and I want to help you to enjoy doing math. I will show you more than one way to solve the problem (if applicable) and we will find the best method for you.
Allow me the honor of showing you the joy of math, while we work together to improve your math skills!
In most cases I only get to tutor a student one school year because after that they no longer need a math tutor!

The first step is to find where your strengths and weaknesses are. My lessons cover all learning styles. After discovering where you need help, we will start the lesson with me introducing the concept and showing examples. The next step is for you to practice several problems with me. When we both agree that you have an understanding of the concept and the process of solving problems involving the concept, you will do several examples as I observe your steps to solving the problems. I will continue to assist you until you feel comfortable doing the work on your own.
If your need is homework help, I would assist you by first observing how much of the concept you understand. We would then do a short review of the concept you are working on, followed by me demonstrating the method to solve. Finally, I will observe you while you work on your assignment and assess your understanding. I will continue to assist you for as long as you need.
We will make the learning fun, engaging and successful!
