About Will
My name is Will! I'm a Melbourne-based student and coach, with a passion for chess. I have a 2300-2400 rating on Chess.com (top 0.1%), and a FIDE rating of 1750. I successfully ran my school's chess club for two years, offering tournament preparation and helping players of all levels improve. I have helped a student reach their peak of 1100 Elo, and truly believe I can help do the same for you - or more! From this experience, I'm familiar with how to cater my teaching to many different strengths, from beginner up to strong intermediates. I can't wait to discuss your chess goals and how we can take you higher!

I offer lessons of varying lengths (typically an hour), focusing on distilling tricky chess concepts into easy to understand principles, that will immediately boost your chess. This can involve playing a game with you to address faulty calculations, reviewing your games, and generally understanding the best ways to get you to where you want to be.
I offer lessons for beginners, as well as intermediates up to about 1600 Elo, to ensure that I, as a 2400 Elo player on chess com, can offer high quality teaching that fits your needs.
I have experience in teaching chess from my two years running the school chess club, as well as from teaching a past student who I helped reach 1100 Elo.
