About Thorkell
My name is Mark-Anthony and I have a passion for education that has grown with me, having 2 younger siblings has ensured I am quite suited to becoming an educator, fortunately, I find that I enjoy it.
Away from my work I enjoy playing the occasional game of rugby, drawing family members, chatting with the elderly and playing/listening to piano.

- I have been tutoring online and face-to-face for 4 years now. I started at 15, tutoring my classmates and seniors for extra credit, and then after school for pocket money.
- I have achieved consistent A/Band 6 results in Mathematics throughout high school and helped my peers do the same.
- Our lessons will follow a path that looks like this:
--Conceptual understanding → practice (increasing difficulties) → mastery → mock exams
--Today, too many math students get caught up in the sloppy memorization-input-output motions of maths and lack proper understanding. I aim to create a thorough conceptual grasp of key concepts in my students that are hard to forget.
--Thorough understanding will be met with practice, and with enough practice (and assistance from yours truly), my students will quickly gain mastery.
--Unfortunately, mastery isn't enough. I will provide exam-style questions and make my students sit them under time pressure to ensure my students can demonstrate their proficiency within the examination room.
-I prefer lessons to be an hour long (not too short for us to miss key elements of the lesson structure and not so long that my students' focus starts to wane).
