About Brett
As an experienced theatre director, teacher, and tutor, I am adept at connecting with students in a real-world, relatable way. My personality, growth mindset, and commitment to the craft allow me to build rapport and boost comprehension. I am skilled at adapting materials and techniques for the individual, based on their talents and potential.
I have a BA in theatre and an MFA in directing. I started my own theatre company when I was 19 years old, and have spent many years since recruiting, teaching, and directing well over 2500 actors, technicians, and artists. In the most recent years, I have crafted a hybrid, multimedia tutoring expertise that fits seamlessly into an online, virtual-studio platform. Above all, I care about my students and will always approach an actor’s education with a respectful and honest approach when dealing with matters of personal emotions and experience.

After 40 years of directing and coaching eager, talented performers, I've learned a thing or two about acting excellence. Since 1982 I've guided hundreds of nervous novices into becoming captivating actors across theatre, film, and television. How? By starting from wherever you are now.
We all wear masks - those identity-shaping roles life hands us. My gift lies in seeing past the fearful facade to the powerhouse performer within. Through tailored training, I'll help you gain a deeper understanding of yourself and others, developing raw talent into refined skill.
My dual methodology of truthful improvisation and rigorous character study unlocks authentic emotion and technical mastery. With clarity, wisdom, and good humor gleaned from decades of experience, I push my students beyond self-imposed limits, building unshakeable confidence.
I see glimmers of greatness in each person I coach, using targeted feedback to fan that spark into an actor's fire. I hear time and again: "I never knew I had this in me!" Well, I do; that's my job.
