About Jonathan
I am an experienced Welsh tutor, currently working with Swansea University since 2022, where I teach Welsh to adult learners at all levels across the community. My work in this role focuses on inclusive, confidence-building Welsh language teaching, supporting learners with a wide range of backgrounds and goals. In recognition of this work, I was a Welsh Tutor of the Year finalist at the National Eisteddfod in 2023. Alongside this, I am a Graduate Teacher at Cardiff University’s School of Welsh, where I teach undergraduate courses in Welsh language and grammar. I am also a qualified primary school teacher (since 2022) and am currently studying for a PhD in Welsh education, with a research focus on Welsh-medium teaching and learning. I bring extensive teaching experience across both adult and school settings, including work with learners with English as an Additional Language, as well as delivering classroom-based and one-to-one music lessons.

I am available for Welsh lessons for learners of any age or level, I am also available for 2nd langauge Welsh support for young people studying welsh through school, from early years to GCSE. I am also available to provide Welsh lessons to non-Welsh speaking parents of children in Welsh medium education. I am highly flexible in my tuition method, and at the beginning, I work with the student to set out a list of clear goals for the lessons. Each session will be tailor-fit to your specific needs. Regular check-ins to assess progress also help in establishing how we can learn best! As a qualified primary school teacher and education researcher, I am aware of the latest methods of learner theory, so I can work with you to develop the best learning methods!!
