About Kate
Known by Miss P to my pupils and Kate to my colleagues, I graduated from Nottingham Trent University in 2018 with a first class degree after 4 years of educational studies. Since then, I have continued to refine my teaching practice by working full time in a local primary school. Throughout this time, I have really come to appreciate the importance of learning remaining fun and engaging for all pupils is something I apply to my tutoring sessions.
Beyond the classroom, I am a very adventurous person who enjoys the outdoors and participating in sports such as climbing. Therefore, I also like to ensure my tutoring sessions include active aspects where possible as movement has been shown to support learning.
Overall, I aim to ensure all those I teach feel comfortable, engaged and valued during my tutoring sessions by using their hobbies, interesting and learning needs as the basis for all activities.

Appreciating the importance of individuality, my tutoring approach remains responsive and flexible to each students’ needs and ensures their learning preferences are best met. By creating tailor-made learning opportunities and resources, I have achieved great levels of progress with previous students and successfully equipped them with key skills for future academic opportunities.
Throughout a sequence of tutoring sessions (1 or 2 hour blocks), I aim to establish any gaps in a student’s understanding, determine their next leaning targets and then plan engaging lessons which address these goals in small steps. As I currently work within the education sector, I can also ensure that the techniques and strategies used within my sessions remain up to date and relevant from KS1 right through to KS3 (4-16 year olds).
