About Hing
With 7 years of teaching and performing experience, I am an experienced violin tutor committed to helping students achieve technical mastery, artistic expression, and personal growth. I teach school and college students at all levels, from beginners exploring foundational techniques to advanced learners preparing for recitals, competitions, and exams.
One of the most fulfilling milestones of my career has been guiding students from struggling with technique, posture, or rhythm to performers capable of playing with skill, emotion, and expressive interpretation.
My teaching emphasises building strong technical foundations, including posture, finger placement, bowing technique, rhythm, tone, and intonation, while also fostering creativity, musical interpretation, and expressive performance. I incorporate music theory, sight-reading, listening exercises, and performance practice to ensure students gain a comprehensive understanding of music.
Lessons are personalised to each student’s pace, goals, and learning style, creating a patient, supportive, and inspiring environment where students are encouraged to explore, express themselves, and reach their full potential. Teaching violin allows me to cultivate confidence, discipline, and a lifelong passion for music.

I teach violin using a methodology centred on motivation, communication, creativity, and integrity, designed to nurture well-rounded musicians who are confident, expressive, and technically proficient. Lessons are fully tailored to the student’s abilities, goals, and learning style, combining structured technical practice with creative exploration, improvisation, and performance preparation.
Motivation is the foundation of my teaching. I guide students to set clear goals, track progress, and celebrate milestones, fostering perseverance, self-confidence, and enthusiasm for learning. Students are encouraged to embrace challenges and find joy in the learning process.
Communication ensures lessons are collaborative, interactive, and supportive. Students feel comfortable asking questions, sharing challenges, and exploring ideas freely, fostering trust and engagement.
Creativity is integrated into every lesson. Improvisation, composition, and interpretation exercises allow students to explore their artistic voice and deepen their emotional connection to music. Integrity emphasises disciplined, responsible practice and respect for learning, cultivating habits that ensure long-term growth and success.
Alongside violin, I teach music theory, sight-reading, ear training, rhythm exercises, and introductory piano, giving students a comprehensive foundation for technical mastery and artistic development.
