About Nico
I am originally from Minneapolis, Minnesota where I became passionate about the natural world and the sciences as a kid. I spent most of my childhood in our garden, by the lake, or somewhere in the woods with my friends.
Fast-forward a decade or so, I spent my first two years of university at the University of British Columbia in the Faculty of Forestry in a Natural Resources Conservation program before transferring home to the University of Minnesota where I finished my undergraduate degree in Environmental Science, writing my thesis on agroforestry systems in Northern Climates.
After finishing my undergraduate degree I spent the following autumn doing ecology research in the Western Amazon in Perú, before graduate school.
I am currently a joint grad student at the University of Copenhagen, the Technische Universität Dresden in Germany, and the Czech University of Life Sciences in Prague pursuing 2 MSc degrees in Global Forestry and Tropical Forestry, and one MEng degree in Agroforestry Systems.

Having almost a decade of experience in youth education and a strong professional and research background in the natural sciences, I am passionate about empowering young learners to feel confident and curious about the natural sciences.
I also have substantial experience in English literature and essay-writing, and provide proofreading services and essay-writing lessons as well.
My teaching style is more conversational than lecture-style, as I believe that the curiosity and open engagement of the learner should be at the forefront of any lesson.
