About Shyam
Hi! My name is Shyam Suman, and I am a very keen and enthusiastic pianist and musician in general. Apart from playing the piano, I also sing, write, draw, and act. I have been involved in many musical productions and plays. I absolutely love working and spending time with kids, and I find that children respond well to my teaching. I always strive to motivate and make my lessons enjoyable.
I started playing the piano when I was about 7 years old and have stuck with it ever since. It is a beautiful instrument that can express human emotions profoundly. My main goal as an instrumental teacher is to share the same love for music that I have with the rest of the world and provide everyone with the tools to harness their inner musician.

My technique as a piano tutor would involve assessing a students individual learning capabilities and then style an approach which would benefit them them most. The key for all students is always to rehearse and repeat what is learnt in class, so encouraging fun practise techniques and programs would be prioritised. The typical length of a lesson would be around 30 to 45 minutes based on the age and level of the student.
I have achieved an AMEB Grade 7 Certificate of Performance, been playing piano for over a decade and have held a previous position as a Maths Tutor at Kumon with nearly 2 years of experience in tutoring. I am currently completing my VCE Music Performance Units 3/4 and will sit the final exam in October 2023.
I am capable of teaching contemporary and classical syllabuses up till AMEB Grade 6 inclusive (or equivalent).
