About Jessie
I'm an animator originally from Dublin but currently based in Bristol.
I have a degree in animation which included 2D handrawn, 3D digital and stop motion/experimental animation.
I majored in stop frame animation and have done courses in sculpting and puppet making as well as the new Stop Motion Professional course with Aardman Academy.
I've worked on several client-based 2D digital animated projects. I was the director on all of them and on several occasions I was the sole creative on the project so I completed every stage of the pipeline myself.
I've also worked with Matchbox Mountain on the Christmas idents for RTÉ (Ireland's national broadcasting service) last year. I did some work experience with Jam Media and Cartoon Saloon when I was starting out.
Other than animation I have an interest in theatre, circus, film, and dance. I'm fascinated in different ways of telling stories and finding ways to connect with an audience

I worked as a tutor demonstrator at my university after graduating and would sometimes co-teach modules. I also ran the summer animation portfolio course.
I can teach the basics of animation for anyone starting out or do more advanced feedback for people who are more experienced in animation.
For anyone starting out it would be more of a theory based session and I'd give and talk through basic exercises to work on.
If you're getting in touch with a good knowledge of animation and you'd like feedback, I can look at your work and we can discuss what may need to be changed or improved, I can give completely unbiased advice and we can cater to whatever you'd like to get out of the session.
Anyone is welcome to get in touch for whatever sort of learning or feedback you're looking for - all ages, all levels of experience. I'm starting out with half hour sessions but I'm flexible with that so get in touch if you'd be interested in something different.
I also have some background in theatre and a keen interest in film in general so I'd be delighted to talk about storytelling or the more technical/theory based side of things.

I have always been interested in animation but was very new to the practical side. I had minimal experience. Jessie helped me understand the importance of learning the basics and over time I started creating things I never thought I'd be able to make. Great tutor, couldn't recommend anyone better!

My lessons will not cover any materials or software. However I can recommend free (or paid if you'd prefer) software to use and materials would not be required but if you did want recommendations I can absolutely give you some! The only thing you need to pay for in my sessions is my time so any other purchases you make are completely at your own discretion.
