About Mel
I’m a Newcastle-based artist and educator with a Bachelor of Fine Art (Ceramics) from NAS, where I received the Award for Outstanding Academic Achievement. I also completed a Diploma of Visual Arts at Newcastle Art School. I hold a Bachelor of Clinical Sciences and Master of Osteopathy, graduating with a Distinction average. My studies included extensive anatomy, neuroanatomy and human structure and function, and I have previous experience tutoring neuroanatomy.

I’m an artist and National Art School graduate with a Bachelor of Fine Art (Ceramics), a Diploma of Visual Arts, and a background in health science, including extensive study of human anatomy and neuroanatomy.
I offer individual lessons in drawing, ceramics and anatomy, tailored to your interests, experience and goals. My own drawing practice is gestural and experimental, and I’m particularly interested in helping students develop confidence with observation, movement, mark-making and visual expression.
For anatomy students, I can draw on my clinical science background to help make complex anatomical concepts easier to understand visually.
Lessons can be adapted for beginners, developing artists and health-science students, and can be held online or in person in Newcastle.
