About Joshua
I am an artist who follows postmodernity's use of visual allegory and personal metaphor. I create visual narratives representing my world experiences and speculate how everything fits together. My recent projects visualise wordplay into coded messages to friends and loved ones. As an artist and expert in participatory art and design, I have followed the principles that a new idea combines old ideas and developing creative ideas or solutions to problems is about seeing and creating relationships. As a result, I have acquired techniques for creative problem-solving and producing unique ideas, which I use to create artwork and design art clubs. I want to teach because I believe that sharing my knowledge and techniques with others will help them develop creative problem-solving skills and produce unique ideas in their work.

As a private tutor for Art GCSE, A-levels, and university-level students, I follow a person-centred teaching methodology and use problem-solving techniques to teach art and design's fundamental principles and elements. With over 20 years of experience practising studio art, I mix painting, drawing, printmaking, graphic design, and critical writing to help my students learn and grow. I have studied Western Art history, from ancient and medieval to contemporary art, and taught studio practice and dissertation writing in undergraduate and postgraduate art, design, and theatre courses for over ten years. With a range of qualifications, including a BA, PgDip, MA and PhD in Fine Art, I offer private tutoring sessions that are typically an hour long. However, I am also happy to offer longer sessions as needed.
