About Luyanda
I'm an astrophysics graduate from the University of Johannesburg. I've completed my honors astrophysics degree in 2020 and now am currently working on getting my masters. I've helped tutor various people from high school maths and physics to undergraduate students in calculus, linear algebra, applied maths and physics

I believe the best way to teach someone is to understand who you are teaching. Understand what motivates them, their problems, where did they start experiencing their difficulties and what do they think might be a possible cause for their problems. I believe it's important to setvgo measurable goals with my students and speak about what do they want to achieve and how I can help them. With these goals in mind, we can then begin the lessons. Generally my lessons start off with a discussion on how the student interprets and understand the concepts they are working with. This is to determine what level of understanding do they have and where are the problems. The session then moves to me explaining the concepts (usually from first principles) followed by a set of practice problems they'll do. The last stage (which might make me seem a little hardcore) is to give them a few homework questions to do that they'll complete before the next session so I can see how well they perform without me being there to help them. Now this technique is mainly for one-on-one sessions but it can be easily tailored for group sessions as well.
