We’ve been working together for a few months now on my portfolio, and I can confidently say that I’ve learned so much from Shayna. First of all, she has a very effective and well-structured method, and she always takes the time to explain everything clearly and in detail. I especially appreciated the prompts she used while guiding me for the personal statement. Our conversations during the sessions help me articulate my thoughts more sincerely, and they have genuinely expanded and deepened my perspective and artistic practice.

I’ve really enjoyed my sessions with Shayna. Her approach to teaching art theory is incredibly refreshing. She helped me understand that art-making isn’t limited to drawing or sculpture, but can also be explored through a wide range of methods, exercises, and conceptual frameworks. Her explanations opened my mind to thinking about art more expansively and creatively.
I also loved our practical sessions. Shayna introduced me to watercolour techniques as well as how to combine oil pastels and watercolour to create mixed-media abstract pieces. She breaks things down clearly, encourages experimentation, and creates a warm, inspiring learning environment :)
