About Lorna
I am a 26-year-old female from Ireland. I moved to Australia over one year ago. I taught in a language college in Ireland after graduating university. I moved to Australia, like many others, to enjoy the beautiful weather Perth has to offer and to experience a different way of life. I loved teaching my students at home. To see my students, of all levels, progress each week and become more comfortable in their everyday life was amazing to watch. In my opinion, you need to possess specific qualities to be a teacher, you need to be approachable, friendly, patient and also be able to engage students and motivate them. I have these qualities which in turn, helps students and ensures they succeed.

Over my years at university, I have gained a rich experience in teaching English as a second language. I like to bring a wide range of teaching methods into my classroom as this engages my students and makes learning enjoyable and fun. I believe everyone can learn a language when you have the right tools, guidance, and of course, teacher! Learning through listening and speaking is what I find works best but also using real-life situations enhances the student’s fluency and understanding.
