About Cathy
I have studied piano since I was 5 years old, and I have been practicing it until now. Also, I’m passionate about guiding young students to develop their skills and dedicated to fostering a supportive and engaging learning environment.
Throughout my career as a music educator, both in China and Australia, I have tailored lessons to the individual needs of students of all ages, helping them build a strong technical foundation while nurturing their love for music and guiding them through AMEB exams, helping them develop their piano skills and musical interpretation. I can also play the piano accompaniments for exam pieces to students of other instruments.

I am a very patient and dedicated piano teacher with over 7 years of teaching experience. My lessons are engaging, enjoyable, and often filled with laughter—something that makes students, especially children, look forward to their piano time.
Over the years, I have successfully prepared students for both AMEB and ABRSM piano exams. I'm proud to say that all of my students have passed their exams, many with excellent results. Whether teaching beginners or more advanced learners, I tailor each lesson to the individual needs and goals of my students, ensuring they build a strong foundation and confidence in their playing.

Cathy Gao is such a great piano teacher! She is super patient and really know how to explain things in a way that makes sense. I’ve learned so much and feel way more confident playing now. The lessons are fun, relaxed, and always something I look forward to. I totally recommend learning with Cathy — you’ll be in good hands!
I really appreciate having lessons with Cathy, she knows how to teach based on what I need. She’s great at adjusting the lessons depending on your level and pace, and that makes a huge difference. I never feel rushed or stressed — just supported and encouraged.
