About Brittney
I have been teaching now for about 4 years. I have instructed undergraduate and graduate students in Standard Written English, supporting them as they pursued Bachelor and graduate degrees. I have also worked for 2 years with students preparing for their SATs and ACTs, and I have seen all of my students improve at least 5 points on each test (a HUGE feat for ACT students!) I was also a classroom teacher and watched my students progress in their understanding of and ability to use English to communicate, argue, and persuade effectively.

I am a certified English teacher with a Bachelor of Arts in English Language & Literacy and a Bachelor of Science in Secondary English Education. I have experience teaching high school English language and literature, as well as test preparation strategies, academic English (both written and spoken), creative English writing, and business English (both written and spoken). My lessons are structured as Teach, Model, Practice, in that I explain a concept, model it, and then provide support for the student to practice it himself/herself. I also believe fully in bringing using examples from the real-world to help instruct and further support the skills being learned. I am passionate about English language and literature, and I am an enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and focused educator.
