About Ana
I've been teaching violin professionally since 2012. I studied privately with Moshe Hammer and Karoly Sziladi, and took part in masterclasses with James Ehnes, Mark Fewer, and Annalee Patipatanakoon. I hold an ARCT diploma in Violin Performance from the Royal Conservatory of Music, with Honors and Distinction.
A shoulder injury brought my performing career to an early end. Teaching became the natural continuation — and over time, a practice I've come to value on its own terms.
I teach because there's something genuinely satisfying about watching someone grow. I give each student my full attention for the duration of the lesson — zeroing in on small things, explaining in a way that actually makes sense, reflecting back what they're doing so they can hear and feel the difference. Most of my students aren't aiming for a career in music. That doesn't matter to me. The progress itself is the point.

My approach is structured but relaxed. I work with absolute beginners through RCM Grade 9 — adults, teens, and motivated younger students. Each lesson has a clear shape: warm-up, homework review, then targeted work on technique or repertoire. I don't try to cover everything at once. I isolate what needs attention and work on it until there's real improvement. Students always leave knowing exactly what to practice and why. I'm patient, direct, and genuinely invested in each student's progress.
