About Jessica
I have a lifelong passion for foreign languages, and love supporting others to discover the pleasures of language learning and improve their skills and confidence.
I first started learning French at an after-school club in primary school, singing songs about numbers and, crucially, learning how to ask for a biscuit. I later went on to study French to degree level at the University of Southampton, graduating with a 2:1. I spent a year living in the beautiful southern city of Aix-en-Provence, attending classes at the university and immersing myself in the language.
In 2016, I qualified as an English language teacher and spent time teaching classes to adults of all ages and nationalities. From 2019 to 2020, I taught English to refugees with the Bristol-based charity Borderlands.
Since moving to Cornwall in 2024, I have been studying Cornish and am due to take my Level 1 exam in June 2026. I’m really enjoying not only learning a language that is so different to what I know (Cornish being a Celtic language), but also remembering what it’s like to be a beginner, which I hope in turn will help make me a better teacher for my students.

I am a native-level English speaker with a Trinity Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (CertTESOL) and experience in both classrooms and one-to-one settings.
I am also a fluent French speaker with a sufficient level to offer beginner and intermediate French lessons covering grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation.
