Learning a new language is a skill acquired in both contexts,eg at home and at school.
Home is a fundamental place where children learn mode I language ,mama ,baba ,IN a very informal way.We call this knowledge a mode 1 knowledge because its generated in the context of application.
Then at school learners learn reading, writing , they learn how to negotiate meaning with the absent writer during reading .In other words they read and acquired new words ,they are taught how to use dictionary skills in order unpack difficult words.

Listening as a skill is also learn both at home and school.Listening at school presupposes the student decode encode and decode .This is part of information processing .The listener negotiate the information with himself and trying to understand what the speaker was trying to say. This information processing doesn't happen at home but at school level. The lecturer will expect the student to listen attentively inorder to be able to understand the gist of the module concern.

Writing is a process ,which is learnt at school .Writing as a process it starts with

Step .1
prewriting whereby the writer will getter information ,think and decides ,brainstorm what,s/he intends
to write and make sure the writer stay.focused on the subject.
Step 2.
Research about the topic .The writer.can use informal research by interviewing people, search online via goggle and a well researched topic is very interesting to read.

Step3
Drafing is our next step .When writing you become aware of the audience you're writing to by carefully selecting words.
Think about the content you want to create and how you want it to be delivered in writing .Drafting allows the writer to edit sharp words which may cause discomfort to the absent reader etc .

Step 4 The writer can revise what he has written in a way of checking the language errors.

Step 5 Editing and Proofreading .Make the text to be flawless by checkingbthe spelling ,punctuations etc
