About Ryan
Hi, I'm Ryan! I'm a voice teacher and singer in the Chicagoland area with degrees from CU Boulder (MM in Vocal Performance and Pedagogy) and the University of Houston (BM in Vocal Studies). I believe that anyone can sing—as long as they have ears and vocal folds! With the right training, we can strengthen those muscles, develop essential skills, and unlock your authentic voice. My students perform in professional theater companies, school productions, as wedding singers, and even in regional boy band tribute bands. As a performer, I have a deep love for classical music and sing with ensembles throughout Chicago, including the Chicago Symphony Chorus. I was the winner of the 2024 songSLAM Chicago digital competition and have performed with Opera Colorado. In addition to classical music, I also perform in musical theater and plays. In 2020, I debuted the lead role in Double Vision at the Chicago Musical Theatre Festival and played Tony in Masterclass by Terrence McNally with Town Hall Arts Center in Littleton, Colorado.

Drawing on voice science and a professional performance background in operas, musicals, choral ensembles (including the Grammy-winning Chicago Symphony Chorus), caroling groups, and a cappella groups, I help singers discover their authentic voice.
Students are expected to practice at least three times per week for a minimum of 30 minutes per session. Keeping a practice journal is encouraged to track progress, maintain accountability, and ensure we stay aligned on our goals.
Lessons are typically structured in two parts:
The first half focuses on vocal exercises and reviewing concepts from previous lessons.
The second half is dedicated to repertoire work. Students are encouraged to choose pieces from any genre to prepare for recitals and showcases throughout the year.

Cannot recommend Ryan more highly. I have been working with Ryan for one hour each week for the past year. He has helped me build confidence in all areas of my voice. Each lesson Ryan brings his positive personality, a determination to keep building new skills together, and a deep depth of knowledge from his many years training and performing. He is constantly encouraging me and challenging me to think about singing in new and inspiring ways. To work with Ryan is a joy.
I have been taking voice lessons with Ryan for 5 months and he has helped me in many ways! I came in with some vocal background but hadn’t sung formally for many years. I am a mezzo soprano, but originally learned to sing as an alto. Ryan worked with me on breathing correctly (very helpful because I have asthma), diction, phrasing, pitch and patiently :) worked with me on sight reading music. He helped me reach higher notes than I thought I could, and gave me the confidence to keep projecting my voice. Ryan also prepared me for two performances, figuring out ways to loosen me up and project emotion. Ryan is an excellent teacher who is easy to work with, not to mention a great person!
After taking a couple of years off from singing, I knew I’d be in great hands with Ryan as I got back on my feet. Not only is he a true professional, but he also brings a sense of joy and fun to music, which is so important to me. He is always present, kind, and offers constructive feedback with clear, actionable advice. If you're looking to develop your voice while enjoying the process, Ryan creates a supportive and encouraging environment where you can thrive! Would highly recommend!
