About Luz
Hola! I’m Luz — a bilingual artist, educator, and certified meditation facilitator based in Phoenix. I was born in Mexico and raised between cultures, therefore language and creativity have always been central to my life.
I hold a Bachelor’s degree in English with a concentration in Writing, Rhetoric, and Literacies, and I have over ten years of experience working with students of all ages. My classes combine art, language, and cultural exploration in a relaxed and engaging environment. Through drawing, painting, and hands-on creative projects, students naturally practice Spanish vocabulary and conversation while developing artistic skills and confidence.
I have worked extensively with homeschool families and am an approved vendor for the Arizona ESA program. I enjoy creating lessons that support curiosity, creativity, and independent thinking. As a working artist, I bring a real-world creative perspective into my teaching.
My goal is to help students feel inspired, expressive, and comfortable exploring both art and language together. Classes are welcoming to beginners and designed to meet each student at their own level.

My classes are designed as a creative Spanish immersion experience through art. Students learn Spanish naturally while making art, engaging with materials, and describing what they observe and create. The focus is on building both artistic confidence and language familiarity in a relaxed, encouraging environment.
I use a hands-on, process-based approach where students learn vocabulary through practice rather than memorization. Each lesson introduces new words and phrases connected to the materials, colors, techniques, and subjects we are working with. Spanish is woven throughout the lesson in a way that feels approachable and fun for beginners while still engaging students who already have some familiarity with the language.
A typical lesson includes: • Introduction of new Spanish vocabulary related to the materials or subject • Demonstration of the art technique for the day • Guided creative work with encouragement for observation and experimentation • Conversation practice using the new vocabulary in context
