About Alyssa
I'm a bilingual Singaporean tutor from Singapore with strong academic results in the language.
A1 in GCE O-Level Chinese and A2 in GCE A-Level Chinese, both with oral distinction.
I've taught Mandarin to primary-level students and Korean learners before, and I've spent over a decade running my own business in Singapore, so I know the practical, everyday Mandarin that's actually useful here, not just exam answers.
I'm patient by nature, and I especially enjoy helping learners who feel nervous or "behind" with the language find their confidence.

My techniques and teaching methodology:
I focus on conversational, real-world Mandarin rather than rote memorization or textbook drilling unless requested.
Lessons are built around situations you'll actually use such as daily life in Singapore, workplace conversations, or simple exchanges with local friends and family.
I adjust my pace and approach to each learner: some need lots of repetition and patience, others want to move quickly.
For children, I keep lessons light, encouraging, and pressure-free.
Typical length of a lesson:
1 hour per session, once a week as standard.
Twice-weekly sessions available on request, especially useful for exam preparation or faster progress.
Group sessions (2-3 students) can also be arranged.
My qualifications/experience as a tutor:
A1 in GCE O-Level Chinese and A2 in GCE A-Level Chinese, both with oral distinction.
I've taught Mandarin tuition before, including primary-level students and Korean learners.
I also bring over a decade of running my own business in Singapore, which means I understand the practical, everyday Mandarin that's genuinely useful here.
