About Abbey
Hi! I'm Abbey, a Biology major and Pre-Med student at Macalester College with a passion for science, learning, and helping others succeed. Outside the classroom, I'm a collegiate soccer player, youth soccer coach, and outdoor enthusiast who loves running, skiing, and spending time outdoors in northern Minnesota.
I've always been fascinated by how the human body and natural world work, which is what drew me to study biology and pursue a career in healthcare. Through coaching and mentoring younger athletes, I've discovered that I also love teaching and helping students gain confidence in subjects that may seem challenging at first.
When I'm not studying or on the soccer field, you can usually find me training for a race, exploring new trails, or enjoying time on a lake. I strive to bring the same energy, patience, and positive attitude to tutoring that I bring to athletics, creating a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and learning from mistakes.

My goal as a tutor is to help students feel confident in science and develop a genuine understanding of the material. I believe students learn best when they are actively involved, so I focus on asking questions, working through problems together, and connecting concepts to real-life examples.
A typical lesson starts with reviewing any questions or challenging topics, followed by practicing concepts together and building problem-solving skills. I adapt my teaching style to each student's needs and learning preferences.
As a Biology major on the Pre-Med track at Macalester College, I have a strong science background, and my experience coaching youth athletes has taught me how to explain concepts clearly and encourage students to reach their goals.
I primarily work with middle school and high school students in biology, life science, general science, anatomy and physiology, and health sciences. Whether a student needs help with homework, test preparation, or understanding difficult concepts, I aim to make science approachable and engaging.
