About Ryan
Hi I'm Ryan, a Biomedical Sciences PhD graduate with a passion for teaching and outreach. I started teaching during my PhD while working as a graduate teaching event. Since then, I've been volunteering as a STEM ambassador and giving outreach talks and presentations in schools across the country.

I have taught at a range of levels, from AS-level to undergraduate level. My approach will likely vary with each student, but I would typically start with some form of assessment of the student’s knowledge of an area to address what needs focusing on. After this, lessons would take the form of the student being assigned a piece of work to complete in their own time, which we could then go over together in a lesson to help the student understand where they have performed well and where they need to improve. Especially at GCSE and A-level I would encourage extensive use of practical “test-style” exercises and past papers, as this is an active recall type of study and will improve the student’s knowledge and performance better than simply reading through study notes. If required then I could advise the student on effective study techniques.
