When did you develop an interest in your chosen field and in private tutoring?
I have always been a sincere science student. Since my childhood, my science teacher has developed immense interest in me by her impressive way of teaching science with the help of practical examples and models. I have inculcated the same and I love teaching and interacting with my students.
I have been teaching to undergraduate and engineering students as well as school level students after my masters and then during and after my Ph.D. I truly enjoy my classes and make the learning process an interesting and fun moment for my students too.
I have started private tutoring because of my passion for science and I love teaching and transferring my knowledge to my students.
 
Tell us more about the subject you teach, the topics you like to discuss with students (and possibly those you like a little less).
I teach Biology, Chemistry, Microbiology, Biotechnology, Environmental Science to all level students especially AP and honors courses, GCSE courses and research methodology to college level students and Ph.D. students
Did you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you?
Undoubtedly, as mentioned earlier my school teacher was my first role model. She had made learning so easy in the school. She was a brilliant teacher but very strict one. I learned discipline from her and I’m still carrying her teachings with me.
I would also mention my HOD at university and my Ph.D. supervisor. They were so inspiring and learned researchers. My PhD supervisor was entirely dedicated to research and he had provided his students with local and international exposure. He was very humble and cooperative throughout my Ph.D. tenure. He kept my spirit high until I have completed my doctoral work and published research papers in good international journals. His motivation and mentorship helped me to achieve the highest degree, Ph.D in the field of science.
Then my elder sister is my all-time role model. Her way of study was excellent. She had helped me with so many topics, explained basic concepts and guided me at each step of my life.
 
What do you think are the qualities required to be a good tutor?
According to me the qualities to be a good tutor are: in-depth subject knowledge, good communication skills, discipline, good planning, friendly and interactive attitude and great explaining power.
Provide a valuable anecdote related to your subject or your days at school.
I have got admission in degree college in different state where the mother tongue was different. So, moving to the new place and balancing my studies was little challenging for me. At that time, I have felt that how your teachers make difference in your life. With their support my difficult days have been converted into the best days of my student life.
And I became the topper of my batch in the college and gold medallist in the university.
I sincerely thank all those teachers who have played such an important role in my career and life.
What were the difficulties or challenges you faced or still facing in your subject?
I can't recall ever having a problem in teaching with any subject because I always love teaching my students, they feel that passion and appreciate too.
It never mattered that which subject (Chemistry, Biology, Environmental science, Biotechnology, Microbiology) I’m teaching to which level (school, college, university, graduate, postgraduate or PhD), I did my part passionately and my kids have always performed so well in their studies as well as in their livelihood.
Do you have a particular passion? Is it teaching in general or an element of the subject or something completely different?
My passion is teaching AP course and honors courses to high schoolers and senior graders.
I feel, that’s the right time to build their interest in subject and make them prepare to manage the study load which comes just after their middle school. In my opinion, at this stage if their fundamental concepts become clear further studies become stress free. My all the subjects are so related to everyone’s’ day to day life, there are so many real-life examples help me to build their confidence in the subject.
What makes you a Superprof (besides answering this interview questions :-P)?
My passion for science and teaching, my fun-loving nature, caring attitude, my knowledge in the subject, my critical thinking, my rich experience in academics as well as research and most importantly I lead their learning cycle to a harmonious one.
