About Torin

Hi, I’m Torin! I’m a Brown University Honors grad with a double major in Applied Mathematics and Economics, and a Teach For America Fellow with over 7 years of experience helping students excel in Economics, Math, Physics, Chemistry, and Organic Chemistry. At Brown, I served as Head Economic Student Lecturer, teaching large lectures and tutoring Micro and Macro Economics. After working as a data analyst for a proprietary energy trading firm in D.C., I returned to graduate school to study the sciences in depth. As a Teach For America Fellow, I became a full-time award-winning high school math teacher at Hollywood High School in Los Angeles, where I developed curriculum and helped students close gaps in rigorous, diverse classrooms. Now a professional private tutor, I specialize in helping students master complex topics, raise test scores, and gain confidence in STEM and Economics subjects. Whether you're aiming for a 5 on AP Calc or Econ, pushing for top ACT/SAT math scores, or working through college-level problem sets in a challenging class, I’ll tailor our sessions to your learning style and goals. I love working one-on-one with students and I’ll bring energy, patience, and deep subject knowledge to every session. You got this, and together, we'll get you there!

About the lesson

My lessons are always tailored to you — your goals, your learning style, and the pace that works best for you. Whether you're aiming to crush your next test, close gaps from a tough class, or push for top scores on the SAT, ACT, APs, or college problem sets, I’ll meet you where you are and help you move forward with clarity and confidence.

We use an interactive Zoom whiteboard so I can walk you through problems step by step, then give you a chance to try them with real-time feedback. At the end of each session, you’ll get a full set of notes and a recording to review whenever you want — no more forgetting how we solved that tricky question!

You bring the questions — I’ll bring the tools, strategy, and encouragement. Let’s get to work!
