About Jessica
I am a recent graduate who will begin an MSc in Marine Environmental Management in September. I currently spend my free time reading, illustrating, making sustainable clothing and exploring. I decided that I'd like to offer my time and skill-set to tutoring as I am really passionate about helping other people. The tutoring that I had when I was younger was not particularly helpful as my tutor did not understand my personal educational needs and I did not feel comfortable communicating that to them. I like to take an approach to tutoring where the student feels comfortable communicating their needs, which allows me to create an online classroom tailored to them. We all have different learning styles, which I believe is something to celebrate rather than work against.

Lessons are to be tailored around the individual needs of the student; my tutoring services may be applicable to a range of ages and abilities, therefore teaching style will fluctuate between each pupil. Before tutoring commences I like to have a conversation with the tutee to determine what teaching styles they feel best suit them (use of visual media, frequent pop quizzes, diagrams and presentations to name a few) to develop an individual lesson plan which we can continue to amend along the tutoring journey if need be. The duration and frequency of lessons is also largely up to the pupil/parent to decide as this will vary with individual ability and the goals they wish to succeed through tutoring.
I am happy to tutor anyone of any age or ability up to A level standard in geography and english, I am also happy to tutor up to undergraduate level in environmental science. My fields of expertise within my degree subject mostly pertain to climate change and marine ecology and conservation.
