About Matthew
I have extensive tutoring experience at the middle and high school levels, primarily in preparing students for finals and AP exams. With a strong background in mathematics, I am well-equipped to tutor students ranging from middle school to sophomore year in college. I attended high school just outside of Washington, D.C., where I scored a 5 on both AP Calculus exams and both AP Economics exams. Recently, I completed both my Bachelor's and Master's degrees at the University of Georgia, earning high marks in numerous math, statistics, and computer science courses. Outside the classroom, I am known for being patient, understanding, and thoughtful. Many past students and friends have praised my natural teaching ability, and I eagerly look forward to any opportunity to share my knowledge!

My tutoring style is to help students understand the process first. In math, it is easy to make quick, small mistakes. What is most important for students is to understand why we undergo the steps that teachers teach and how can we master the process of getting to the right answer.
An ideal lesson with me starts with the student sending some of the problems they have been working on or are struggling with so that I can gauge what most needs to be worked on and create some new practice problems on my own. We will then work through some problems together, allowing the student to understand the process of working through the problem, and then allow the student to complete some problems on his/her own with just my supervision. At the end, I will send the student home with some more practice problems or any desired resources.
