About Daisy
Hello! I’m Daisy — a historian, podcast producer, writer, researcher, artist, actor, and theatre-maker. I'm from Australia, now living in the UK, applying for a PhD in History commencing late 2026. I was raised to believe that education is everything, and I truly enjoy learning in all its forms: reading, listening, experiencing, and most importantly, asking questions. The teachers and tutors I’ve been fortunate to learn from have profoundly shaped my life — academically, professionally, and personally. That’s why I see tutoring as both a privilege and a responsibility. From experience, I know that progress often comes when a student feels their unique way of thinking is seen and valued. My goal is to create that space for every learner I work with.

The greatest intellectual leaps I made were with teachers who listened and sought to understand my worldview. My teaching philosophy begins with building a personal connection and working from each student’s strengths and perspectives. I believe students thrive when they learn with confidence and curiosity, rather than focusing only on gaps or weaknesses. When I first meet a student, I review previous lessons and assignments to gauge their progress. From there, I design lesson plans and homework on a case-by-case basis, in consultation with the student and, where relevant, their guardians. This might involve reframing school or university tasks to encourage new ways of thinking, or setting fresh challenges that build on earlier work and strengthen areas for growth. Lessons typically last one hour and combine explanation, discussion, and practice, all tailored to the student’s needs and learning style. I create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and exploring ideas. I hold an MPhil in US History from the University of Cambridge, where I graduated top of my course. I have tutored students aged 7–20 in English, History, Theatre, and Speech & Drama, and also offer support with essay writing, exam preparation, and presentation skills. Lessons are available in Brighton or online for primary, secondary, and university students.
