About Bea
My name is Bea, and I am a gap year student from North London, starting an English Literature degree at Cambridge University in October next year.
I received grades A*A*A in my A-Levels, in English Literature (Eduqas/WJEC), Media Studies (OCR) and Government & Politics (Edexcel) respectively. In English Literature specifically, I achieved 378/400, earning full marks on three out of four set texts. I achieved highly at GCSE, including Grade 9s in English Literature, English Language, Drama and History, and received 5/5 offers from Russell Group universities. Finally, I am a skilled writer; I am a four-time Foyle Young Poet of the year, and in 2024, won the Orwell Youth Prize for Political Writing.
As a tutor, I'm professional, but not too strict! Ultimately, I aim to find the flow of working that is most beneficial for the student, and I can adapt to various work styles and study techniques. Fundamentally, I'm a creative, flexible person, who is interested in what you have to offer; my main goal is to help you achieve your best.

I am an experienced tutor and mentor, and am happy to offer guidance in the following areas:
- GCSE English Language and Literature (All Exam Boards)
- A-Level English Literature (All Exam Boards)
- A-Level Government and Politics (Edexcel)
- Personal Statement Guidance / University Application support for all humanities subjects.
- Interview Prep for English Literature applications to Oxbridge and Russell Group Universities
Typically, my lessons will run for an hour, though I am happy to provide longer sessions as required. The main areas I focus on are exam technique, essay writing skills, and understanding content.
For English Literature, rather than teaching by rote memorisation, I help students gain a deeper understanding of the texts they study, developing key skills in analysis and use of context or critical material. This is especially helpful when faced with unfamiliar language such as in Shakespeare's plays, or older poetry! Similarly, Government and Politics exams rely on students developing a nuanced interpretation of content, creating links between examples and broader patterns - and developing this skill is my primary focus. However, I'm most interested in finding a way of working that helps YOU! If my strategies aren't working, I'm happy to adapt!
When providing support for university applications, I am happy to proofread and give feedback on personal statements for all humanities subjects. I am confident offering mock interviews for English Literature, and have a comprehensive understanding of what admissions tutors are searching for in a student.
