About Hailey
Hello clay enthusiasts! I'm a seasoned ceramicist and ceramics instructor with a passion for sharing the joy and intricacies of working with clay. My journey began at Texas State University, where I earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Ceramics with a Minor in Art History in 2014. Over the years, I've mastered a wide range of clay construction techniques, including wheel-throwing, hand-building, mold-making, and slip-casting.
For nearly eight years, I owned and operated a studio in Austin, TX, where I created functional and non-functional ceramic art for clients and retail shops across the United States. This experience allowed me to refine my skills in glaze formulation, kiln operation, and studio safety—ensuring every piece met the highest standards.
Currently, I'm a Ceramics Instructor and Manager in Los Angeles, CA. Here, I have the privilege of teaching students from ages 6 to 75, guiding them through the fascinating world of ceramics. My classes can cover everything from wheel-throwing and hand-building to using larger studio equipment like slab rollers and spray booths. The lessons will be tailored to the skill level of the student. I am dedicated to creating a supportive and inclusive environment, especially for neurodivergent students. I ensure that every student feels comfortable and empowered through a words of affirmation approach to fully express their creativity through ceramics.
Whether you're a beginner or an experienced artist, my lessons are designed to help you master the art of ceramics.

As a passionate ceramics teacher with 15 years of experience, I bring a fun, hands-on approach to every class! My teaching style is all about getting your hands dirty and really diving into the art of ceramics, starting with the goals of the student.
Each lesson starts with a quick, exciting intro to our focus for the day—maybe we're throwing on the wheel, crafting unique hand-built pieces, or exploring vibrant glazing techniques. Then, I jump into a demo, showing you the ropes step-by-step. After that, it's your turn to get creative, with me right there to offer tips, tricks, and plenty of encouragement. If the student is a bit more studious, I will provide handouts as well as resources and literature for learning outside of my lessons.
What makes my classes special is the super friendly and inclusive vibe—I love helping each student personally find their own artistic voice. Whether you're a total newbie or a seasoned artist, my lessons are perfect for anyone eager to learn this beautiful art.

My fees dont include materials, which can either be purchased by me prior to meeting, and brought to the lesson, where I will be reimbursed for the exact cost of materials shown on a provided receipt. Materials can also purchased by the student before our lesson if we are meeting online.
