About Taylor
My name is Taylor Gaikema. I started out tutoring with the OG program, Barton, and after seeing so many students struggle with the memorization of rules and lengthy time to remediation, I looked to the research to find a better program. I now tutor online through zoom with the Linguistic Phonics multisensory program Evidence Based Literacy Instruction (EBLI). I also support dyslexic learners with co-existing conditions including ADHD, speech and language disorders, executive functioning disorder, vision disorders, and movement and coordination disorders. I have been teaching and tutoring since 2015. I am a certified EBLI tutor. My goal as a tutor is to make reading and writing fun and help your child to reach their full potential.

I run an online tutoring center called Growing Through Dyslexia. We use the EBLI program, which is based on linguistic phonics. Linguistic phonics programs focus on the sounds we hear and mapping them to the spellings for that sound. This allows us to show students the patterns of sound spellings rather than focus on rules, like OG programs would. This method of teaching allows students to reach grade level reading within a matter of months.
