About Heather

I’m an elementary educator with 9 years of experience teaching in both public and private school settings, in the U.S. and abroad. I’m passionate about making every student feel seen, supported, and celebrated. About the lesson

My lessons are geared to middle school and elementary school students for reading, writing, and math. When students struggle—whether they verbalize confusion or simply pause for extended periods—I implement a responsive scaffolding approach, first offering guiding questions to promote independent thinking, then re-modeling concepts if necessary, followed by new practice opportunities to reinforce learning. This structured yet flexible methodology ensures that every minute of tutoring is purposeful, builds student confidence through appropriate challenges, and develops both immediate skills and long-term learning strategies.

My standard spot for meeting is the Starbucks on Yelm and Henderson. If you would like to meet at another location, I charge a $5 travel fee per lesson to cover gas.

I can use your curriculum or provide my own for an additional $3 fee per lesson.
