About Isabella

Hello there! My name is Isabella- a qualified singing teacher with a London College of Music Examinations Teaching Diploma and I am currently studying Professional Dance and Musical Theatre at Urdang in London. In terms of performance experience, my most notable role played was Christine Daaé in The Phantom Of The Opera. My other theatre credits include: Dorothy (Wizard Of Oz UK Tour), Understudy Cinderella (Cinderella Tour), Penny Pingleton (Hairspray), Grace Farrell (Annie), Narrator (Joseph And The Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat), Jemima (CATS), Sister Mary Robert (Sister Act), Bonnie (Bonnie And Clyde), and I toured the UK in the pantomime 'Rapunzel' as Understudy Rapunzel/Swing. I hold a Grade 9 in GCSE Drama, a Triple Distinction in Performing Arts A level, a Distinction in Grade 8 LCME/Musical Theatre Vocals and a Distinction in ABRSM/Classical exams. My future aspirations are to perform and to professionally teach singing- I currently have six students outside of superprof and have joined to help many more people learn how to sing and have fun while doing so!

I aim to ensure that everyone comes out of my lessons feeling as though they have learnt something new, improved on something and are feeling proud of themselves! I will happily teach any age, level and ability, and will personalise all lessons to suit each particular student in order to accommodate their style, interests, goals and aspirations. I am DBS checked and am able to teach children- parents are more than welcome to choose whether they want to sit in the lessons with their child or not. In terms of style, I will happily assist and coach you with any style(s) of your choosing- I specialise in Musical Theatre, Opera and Classical, but am trained to teach any genre (Rock, Pop, Jazz, Choral etc). For those who are wanting to audition for drama/performing arts schools, I can offer lessons specialising in suitable technique; as well as focusing on repertoire development, dealing with nerves, audition anxiety and stage fright, acting through song, audition cuts and general song coaching. For those who are professionals, semi-professionals and university singing students, I am happy to tailor lessons to focus on particular songs you are working on; assist you in strengthening and finding your mix, chest voice, head voice, etc, and/or focus on anything of your choosing! For those wanting to progress with their singing and wish to take vocal examinations, I am able to put you through LCME (Musical Theatre) examinations (Grade 1- Grade 8 and Performance/Teaching Diplomas), as well as ABRSM examinations (Grade 1- Grade 8). For those who are beginners, hello and welcome! I am more than happy to teach beginners of any age, whether you are just starting for fun, or starting with the intention of pursuing singing seriously. I offer lessons at my place of teaching, online and at your preferred place of learning. I do offer music theory throughout the lesson to those who wish to get better at it. I look forward to getting to know all of you and your vocal types and am keen and excited to get started!

  • 1) When did you first develop a passion for music and your favourite instrument?

I first developed a passion for music as young as three years old. This was because I started taking musical theatre classes which involved singing, acting and dancing. Music plays an important role in all three disciplines, therefore my passion started very early on in life. My favourite instrument is the piano as it is the perfect accompaniment for many art forms such as singing and ballet. Piano is also perfect for studying and relaxing.
  • 2) Is there a particular type of music or artist that you listen to on a loop without it driving you crazy?

Due to my personal connection to the musical, I could listen to the musical soundtrack of 'The Phantom of the Opera' all day without getting bored. The music in the show is versatile as it has ballads, arias, patter songs and love songs which is why I love it so much.
  • 3) Explain to us the most difficult or riveting course you could personally give to a student of music.

The most difficult course I could personally give to a student is training them for a diploma or training them for auditions. The reason being, the courses involve a lot of practice outside of lessons. It also requires me to teach material the student may not vibe with but is necessary for their end goal which can be tricky.
  • 4) What do you think is the most complicated instrument to master and why?

An instrument that I think is the hardest to master is the viola. The reason why is because it requires you to be able to read the alto clef as well as the standard treble clef and bass clef. There is also a lot of skill involved when it comes to playing string instruments.
  • 5) What are your keys to success?

To be successful in your craft, you must first and foremost believe in yourself. It is easier said than done. If you believe that you can, you are more likely to succeed. Practice is also key. Without it, you will not progress.
  • 6) Name three musicians you dream of meeting in your favourite bar in the early hours of the morning. Explain why.

Three musicians I would love to meet are Stephen Sondheim, John Deacon and Bach. Stephen Sondheim because of his creativity when it comes to writing music and lyrics; John Deacon because of his immense talent at playing the bass, and I would love to hear his stories about being a part of the band queen; and Bach well… because his music is just so brilliant.
  • 7) Provide a valuable anecdote related to music or your days at music school.

A relevant anecdote I recall was when I sang in front of my entire school in year 7. It was probably the most terrifying thing I have ever done in my life. Over 1,000 students (the majority of them older than me) all watched me sing by myself for over three minutes. I often think about how my life would be different if I hadn't had the courage to do that.
  • 8) What are the little touches that make you a Superprof in music?

I understand the biology, flexibility and journey of the voice. I work differently with every voice as every voice is unique. I also had a tough time learning about my voice and therefore had to teach myself a lot. Because of this, I can pass my knowledge on to all of my students and make it so much easier for them to learn. I also have a singing teaching diploma, so I have extensive knowledge about singing and the voice in general.
