Tell us more about your subject. How did you develop an interest in this field?
I have a deep passion for music, especially piano. My interest in this field developed at a young age when I first started taking piano lessons. The magic of creating beautiful melodies and the intricate art of playing the piano has always fascinated me. Over the years, I honed my skills, studied music theory, and developed a profound understanding of the instrument. This journey led me to become a piano instructor, where I can share my knowledge and love for music with others.
What or who is the motivation behind you choosing to teach & why?
My motivation for choosing to teach piano is the joy I find in helping students unlock their musical potential. There's nothing more rewarding than witnessing a student's progress and seeing their eyes light up when they play a piece they once thought was beyond their reach. I believe that music can be a source of inspiration and a means of self-expression, and I'm passionate about facilitating that journey for my students.
How does your work help society?
Teaching piano helps society in several ways. It fosters creativity and self-expression in individuals, contributing to their personal growth and well-being. Music education enhances cognitive skills, such as problem-solving, memory, and concentration, which can be applied to various aspects of life. Furthermore, by nurturing musical talents, we enrich our culture and ensure the preservation of this beautiful art form for future generations.
If you had to think of a role model for your work, who do you think of & why?
If I were to choose a role model for my work as a piano instructor, I might think of legendary pianists like Ludwig van Beethoven or Sergei Rachmaninoff. These musicians not only possessed incredible technical prowess but also had the ability to convey profound emotions through their music. They serve as a reminder of the power of music to transcend time and touch the human soul deeply.
Tell us about your hobbies outside teaching.
Outside of teaching, my hobbies include music composition, playing badminton, and video editing. I also enjoy reading about music history and theory to continually expand my knowledge. Additionally, I like spending time in nature, as it provides a peaceful and inspiring contrast to the hustle and bustle of the teaching profession.
Do you have an anecdote to tell us about your student or professional life?
I have many memorable moments from my teaching career, but one anecdote that stands out is the story of a student who struggled with self-confidence. This student initially lacked belief in their abilities and was hesitant to perform in front of others. Over time, we worked together on building their skills and self-esteem. When they eventually performed a challenging piece in a recital and received a standing ovation, it was a transformational moment. It showed me the incredible impact that patient teaching and guidance can have in helping students overcome their fears and achieve their musical goals. Most importantly he has Autism.
