About Kristy
I am a BSc graduate with a focus in bio-med, with a further diploma in veterinary technician studies. I have been private tutoring for 3 years before working for Seneca College as a mentor and certified tutor during my two years of degree studies. I have tutored over 100 students of all ages ranging from 16 (high school) to 45 (mature college) and completed over 800 sessions in mathematics, english, biology, comparative physiology, animal anatomy, microbiology, and immunology. Alongside coursework support I encourage my students to learn essential skills for academic success, offering insight and lessons on time management and organization, learning styles, and study/homework planning.

I begin every tutoring session by asking my students what they want to accomplish in that session. This allows the student to create one or two goals to be covered during the allotted time and allows us to track our progress which I find extremely important for creating and driving motivation to continue. Before diving into the coursework, I always take a new student through the different learning styles and ask them to identify which one they find most similar to their own regardless of their age. Once we have identified how they best learn, I will cater my session to that style to ensure they get the best chance of grasping the concepts. Once we begin the session, we always start with the areas and problems that require the most focus and time and I will constantly ask questions to check for understanding. At the end of the session we will review what we have covered, and check in with our progress and goal, and set a study plan and a new goal for the next session if the student so chooses.

Details
Day-of Cancellation Policy: 50% of the fee for the scheduled lesson, eg if 1 hour scheduled, fee is $12, if 2 hours scheduled, fee is $25. Any cancellations that occur before the day of the scheduled lesson is no charge.
