About Hazel
I have been passionate about chemistry since my early experiments sparked curiosity about the world around me. This led to a B.Sc in Chemical Engineering and an M.Sc in Analytical Chemistry, providing both theoretical and practical foundations. Over 6 years, I have guided students of diverse backgrounds, helping them understand complex chemical concepts and develop practical lab skills.
My teaching style combines clarity, structure, and interactive engagement. I use real-world examples, problem-solving exercises, and experimental simulations to make lessons memorable and accessible. I encourage students to think critically, analyse results, and ask questions to deepen understanding.
Outside teaching, I remain engaged with current research, laboratory techniques, and industry developments. Mentoring students for lab experiments, exams, and applied chemistry projects is a highlight of my career. I find it rewarding to help learners develop both confidence and competence, nurturing analytical minds ready to excel academically and beyond.

Chemistry is the science of transformation, and my lessons bring it to life through clear explanations, hands-on examples, and practical applications. Students explore atomic structures, molecular interactions, reaction mechanisms, and laboratory techniques in a structured, engaging manner. By connecting concepts to everyday phenomena and experimental observations, I help learners understand the rationale behind chemical principles rather than relying on rote memorisation. Lessons include exercises, real-life examples, and analytical reasoning, enabling students to confidently tackle questions and experiments.
I adjust content to each learner’s background. Beginners explore foundational topics, such as atomic theory, simple chemical reactions, and visualisation of molecular structures. Intermediate students focus on reaction mechanisms, stoichiometry, titration, and lab-based problem solving. Advanced learners study organic synthesis, analytical techniques, and data interpretation, developing critical reasoning and independent problem-solving skills. Each session emphasises clear understanding, structured practice, and conceptual mastery, supporting learners in building confidence and competence in chemistry.
Beyond content, my lessons cultivate careful observation, analytical thinking, and precision. Students learn to evaluate results, interpret data, and connect chemical theory to practical applications. My goal is to foster learners who not only excel in exams but also develop a lasting appreciation for chemistry’s role in science, industry, and everyday life.
