About Ivonne
Hey I am Ivonne. I grew up in Guangzhou and both Cantonese and Mandarin are my first languages! I completed my first two years of college at a top university there before making the move to the United States.
I have a quite diverse academic background, earned my undergraduate degree in hospitality and tourism management (minor in photography) from Purdue and my master's degree in data science from University of Chicago. After working in the hospitality industry for a while, I discovered my passion for technology and am currently a software developer for a tech firm.
In my free time, I love exploring new places, trying new foods, and capturing moments through art and photography. I also enjoy outdoor activities, especially skiing, and I'm always interested in the latest technology trends. If any of these topics pique your interest, I'm excited to chat with you and learn more about your own interests and experiences. Let's make the most of this class together!

你好! My name is Ivonne and I'm a Chinese tutor who can help you with all aspects of the language, from grammar and pronunciation to vocabulary and slang. I'm here to make learning Chinese fun, engaging, and tailored to your specific interests and goals.
Whether you're a beginner who wants to learn basic daily dialogues or an advanced learner who wants to explore Chinese cultures and traditions, I'm here to help. I'm also happy to chat with you about anything that interests you, from Chinese music and movies to food and travel.
During our sessions, we'll work together to identify your strengths and areas of improvement, and tailor our lessons accordingly. We'll use a range of teaching methods and materials, including textbooks, online resources, and authentic materials such as news articles or videos, to ensure that you're making progress towards your goals.
Most importantly, I want our sessions to be enjoyable and engaging. Learning a new language can be challenging, but it's also a lot of fun! Whether we're practicing your pronunciation or having a conversation in Chinese, we'll make sure to have a good time along the way.
So if you're ready to improve your Chinese skills and have some fun along the way, I'm excited to work with you. Let's get started!
