About Rebecca
I majored in music with an emphasis on music theory in undergrad at Amherst College, and went on to work as the graduate assistant in the music department, teaching music theory to small groups of 3-4 students of all backgrounds. I recently graduated with a master's in choral conducting from Westminster Choir College, where I focused on teaching singing and leading choirs of young adults. I have extensive experience in both ensemble and solo singing, from casual a cappella groups in college to singing with the New York Philharmonic in graduate school. I have been taking voice lessons for fourteen years. I am qualified to help students of all levels in classroom music theory or in solo classical voice study.

My philosophy of teaching starts with creating a safe and accepting environment for students of all backgrounds and beliefs. In this environment, the teacher is responsible to create a balance between holding high expectations and keeping material accessible to all in the classroom. My most important goal is to adapt my lesson to the interests and abilities of each student.
