About Nana
I am a Civil Engineering Technologist with two Bachelor degrees in Urban Engineering (NQF 7) and Structural Engineering (NQF 7). My professional experience, which primarily covers the design, management and provision of public infrastructure services, spans over 7 years in the public sector (Government) and 3 years in the private sector (Engineering Consulting). I have a passion for imparting knowledge, particularly, applying academic theory to practice. Other than the informal tutoring at University, this is will be my first tutoring/ teaching venture, really looking forward.

First and foremost, I prefer face to face interaction as I believe this is much more effective, if not, video chats can suffice. This way, l believe learners are engaged more through verbal communication, since some learners may struggle to express themselves eloquently through writing. A face to face interaction also promotes the ease of asking questions and applying solutions, as methods such as drawings, calculations and diagrams can be used to explain effectively on the drawing board. For any subject/task, whats key, is the critically explanation of the objective of the task at hand as this sets the stage for task and primarily answers "the why" question of the task i.e. why are we doing this task and how does it fit into the bigger picture of the subject. Exercise are carried out as a class then individually, where the level of difficulty is increased to promote critical thinking and understanding, aim is to eliminate the culture of cramming amongst learners
