About Jordan
Classical and gospel trained musician and teacher, Jordan Smith, is a highly regarded music director, conductor and vocal coach. He currently serves as the Director of Choirs at The Soulsville Charter School, Director of the Memphis Youth Chorale and Music Director at Fellowship United Missionary Baptist Church in Memphis, Tennessee. Prior to their appointments in the mid-south area. Jordan served as the Director of Choirs at Northside High School in Fort Smith, Arkansas.
Growing up in Memphis,Tennessee, a city known internationally as the Home of the Blues & Birthplace of Rock 'n' Roll, Smith has developed a deep passion for music, a gift for teaching and a heart for uniting diverse groups of people in song. In 2019, Smith earned a Bachelor of Music Education (BME) degree with honors from the University of Memphis in Memphis, Tennessee. Students under Smith’s leadership have achieved notable success in regional competitions and performances - consistently receiving superior and excellent ratings at assessments and adjudications. Smith’s approach to vocal music education emphasizes a focus on sight-singing, vocal technique, and dynamic and nuanced musical expression, all while incorporating a wide range of musical styles and genres.
Smith is a member of the National Education Association (NEA), the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA), and an Alumni Member of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Fraternity of America (ΦΜΑ). Smith has spent recent summers inspiring young musicians from Memphis, Tennessee to Muskogee, Michigan at nonprofit and university summer music programs. In June of 2022, Smith played the role of Bert Healy in the Fort Smith Little Theatre’s production of Annie.
