About Mike
Over the past 18 months I have been teaching students towards ABRSM practical and theory exams, as well as teaching some songs they want to learn outside the grade structure. I have also taught friends at home and at university, providing valuable experience of teaching absolute beginners. However I have experience teaching English to children as well as experience teaching entrepreneurship fundamentals to adults which has allowed me to develop patience, lesson planning skills and the ability to explain concepts clearly.

Through 20 years of tuition I've developed foundations of good technique and an understanding of music theory. These basics are hugely important in order to improve quickly but I'm fully aware that lessons need to be enjoyable in order for anyone to stick through them so I'll also ask what you would like to achieve and dedicate time to working towards these goals - whether you want to learn jazz improvisation or cover Everglow by Coldplay!

Perfect! We were very impressed with Mike's teaching style, approach and my children (aged 7 and 10 years old) liked him immediately. He is patient and articulates well making it is easy for my children to understand. Mike is dedicated and willing to go the extra mile in preparation to ensure his lessons are delivered and tailored to the needs of the student. Mike can also offer practical advice linking exams pieces to recent, modern pieces which are catchy and memorable. We are happy to recommend Mike.
