I'm an adult learner and wanted to play the piano all my life. I had weekly lessons with Colin for 4 years ( 2018-22). I've learnt with other piano teachers but none with Colin's level of skill and experience as teacher and musician. He helped me develop a much deeper understanding of how I might play the piano beautifully. We explored a large repertoire of pieces. He gently tried to correct my bad habits and developed my understanding of music theory. Colin was sympathetic to the struggle of being a busy adult learner. The lessons were never intimidating, demanding but enjoyable with a lot of laughter. When I came to Colin I had not touched a piano in many, many years.
I never sat a formal music exam before, but I had always wanted to...and yet it never really worked for me before.
Colin made me realise from the outset that it is NEVER too late to realise your goals - and I have already achieved my initial aim.
An exam result of the kind that I NEVER thought possible.
But it is SO much more than that and my journey is far from over and together we have set a brand new goal to work towards.
It is an exciting time for me - new and uncharted waters.
I can't wait to see where it will take me next!Colin is a great teacher. He is able to adjust his teaching according to his pupils’ learning style. I would recommend him to anyone regardless of previous experience!
Mr Stuart is a rare piano tutor. My eight-year-old daughter started her piano sessions in April this year. She loves the lessons very much; Mr Stuart is inspiring, patient and humorous. Every Friday after school, she rides her scooter to Mr Stuart's house - flying happily like a little swallow, sits at the grand piano and enjoys her lesson. Three months later, she performed in a concert organized by Mr Stuart, which was her first concert and of course encouraged her to keep practicing at home. Mr Stuart is also strict, you know, learning piano is not always a fun thing. When my daughter doesn't study seriously, for example bad counting, he always finds a gentle way to correct her, striking a good balance between being interesting and being serious. What a great tutor! In October, my daughter passed the Pre-Grade of MTB Exams gaining 97 marks out of 100. The certificate is not the whole point of learning piano but it has given her great recognition and motivation. So, if you want your little ones to learn piano well, trust me, Mr Stuart will be a good choice for you, although he looks a little old in the eyes of children. I guess he is not very good at promoting himself as well, which makes me feel it is my duty to recommend him highly. In this noisy world, he is like a piece of buried gold!
Colin is an excellent piano and organ teacher. Drawing upon years of experience, he strives to make lessons enjoyable whilst focussing on technique. He uses a variety of methods to develop important musical skills, as well as giving advice to facilitate independent practice.
Whether you're playing for fun or aiming for exams/qualification, Colin is certain to help you reach your goals. He has taught me for almost three years and in that time my confidence and proficiency have improved exponentially.
Colin teaches both me and my 9 year old daughter piano. He is an imaginative, and talented teacher, and both of us have made great progress under his tuition. Colin has the knack of making his lessons varied, engaging and good fun, while also challenging me to improve my approach and technique, embedding good habits for the long term. If you’re looking for a piano teacher, I cannot recommend him enough.
Colin is brilliant! Fun and really engaging as a teacher. He is able to break things down really simply and his passion for music is infectious. I would highly recommend him as a teacher.
Colin has been teaching me piano for 5 years and I am so pleased with the progress I’ve made in that time. Colin is a great teacher, extremely reliable and most importantly loads of fun. He makes learning the piano a real joy. Thanks Colin!
