About Emily
I graduated from Duke University in 2015 with dual degrees in Economics and Political Science. While in college I spent all four years tutoring elementary school students in one on one and group settings to get them to grade level. In addition to my experience tutoring, I underwent training and was the primary instructor for 10 elementary students in a summer program to help at risk children combat summer learning loss. I created unique lesson plans and fostered a positive learning environment. The students saw marked improvements in their reading comprehension and writing at the end of the summer. I have a passion for helping students reach their fullest potential and find nothing more rewarding than helping someone on their academic journey.

My teaching method is adaptable to whatever the needs of my student are. I am good at explaining subjects in many different ways and taking a tailored approach to meet my student where they are. I like to create a positive environment that makes tutoring fun for elementary to middle school aged children. I have worked with students that are unable to read or are reading below grade level to those that are outperforming expectations and looking for an engaging challenge. My extensive experience tutoring children of varying grade and skill levels uniquely situates me to help children achieve whatever the goal is.
