About Valerie
I was enrolled into the International Baccalaureate programme in one of the largest IB schools (International School Manila) with 150 fellow IB Diploma candidates. This meant that I was required to study six subjects and in my final year complete over fifteen examination papers in order to achieve my final score and earn my Diploma.
I have also travelled to schools for underprivileged children from the ages of eight to sixteen as well as taught English in a primary school in Spain for one year, and have been in charge of planning classes and executing them later on, giving me lots of experience working in a teaching environment. I also hold a TEFL certification by BridgeTEFL and so am certified to teach English as a second language anywhere in the world.
Throughout this programme I aim to gain valuable teaching experience, and will use what I learn to continually improve my teaching methods. I also strive to help students to improve in their subjects, and am motivated to see them succeed.
Having studied the IB as well as currently finishing my fourth year of university studying Psychology and Spanish, I have been expected to collaborate in class as well as out of class, the latter having usually taken place online in the form of Facebook or Skype. As a result, I am very comfortable using different social medias to communicate with others, and am used to expressing my knowledge and opinions virtually rather than face to face. What with the heavy workload I was given, I also developed time management and organisational skills that led me to become very reliable with meeting deadlines and planning ahead. Through my participation in several sports and clubs, I also earned leadership positions that helped me develop these skills even further.

Valerie is hard-working and conscientious. If she takes on a job, she will complete it. She has shown herself to be a future teacher by taking a course in TEFL, by volunteering as a teacher assistant in Ecuador and the Philippines and by spending a full year in Spain working for the British Council.
I have been in the education profession for more than 40 years and am presently head of one of the oldest and largest international schools in the world.
