About Shelby
I’m Shelby, a computer engineer in Hawaiʻi. I spent about ten years in organic farming before moving into engineering. Apparently, I needed more things to troubleshoot.
My work involves software, electronics, and space agriculture research. I like understanding how things work, and I tend to ask “why” until the answer actually makes sense.
That’s the approach I bring to math. I’m patient with questions and direct about what needs practice. You don’t need to pretend you understood something just to keep the lesson moving. We can stop there and figure it out.

You don’t have to love math. Understanding what’s happening would be a solid start.
We’ll start with what you’re working on and find the exact step where things stop making sense. I’ll walk through an example, explain why each step works, and then have you try one yourself. If it still doesn’t click, we’ll try another explanation. Repeating the same sentence louder is not a teaching method.
These lessons are for students who need help with homework, exam preparation, or the basics everyone apparently decided you already knew. You can ask where a number came from. You can ask twice.
