About Ali
Control and Automation Engineer with a Master’s in Advanced Control Systems Engineering from the University of Sheffield (First Class). I have hands-on industry experience designing, commissioning, and troubleshooting PLC, SCADA, HMI, and safety control systems across waste-to-energy, manufacturing, and oil and gas sectors. Proficient in both Siemens (TIA Portal, S7-1500) and Rockwell Automation (Studio 5000, ControlLogix, GuardLogix, FactoryTalk View, PlantPAx) platforms, with experience taking projects from design through FAT, SAT, and operator handover. I enjoy teaching because it lets me connect the theory behind control systems with how it’s actually applied on real industrial sites — whether that’s helping a university student understand feedback control or helping an engineer get comfortable programming their first PLC

On the theory side: classical and modern control, feedback systems, and state-space methods, with MATLAB/Simulink for modelling — suited to university and MSc students needing coursework help or exam prep. On the practical side: PLC programming in Siemens TIA Portal (S7-1500) and Rockwell Studio 5000 (ControlLogix, GuardLogix), SCADA/HMI development using FactoryTalk View and PlantPAx design principles, safety system fundamentals, reading P&IDs/PFDs and building I/O schedules and control philosophies, and the commissioning process from FAT and SAT through to operator handover.
